Coronado is a village on a peninsula off the coast of San Diego, California. Coronado Beach was recently voted the number two beach in America and the number one family beach, by the Travel Channel.

Our two-bedroom/two-bath condominium is a corner unit in the El Camino Building at the Coronado Shores, just south of the Hotel Del Coronado, on Coronado Beach, and nine miles from the San Diego Airport. Our unit offers floor-to-ceiling glass windows with views of both San Diego Bay and Bridge and the Coronado Beach and Pacific Ocean.

The unit was upgraded and completely redone with all new furnishings in 2005-2006 by Michele Iacuzzo (Interiors by Michele, tel: 619-435-2413),Coronado's best known interior decorator, and updated for June 2008.

The kitchen is fully equipped, and includes a disposal and new dishwasher. The glass-topped circular dining room table and chairs seat six. There are two bathrooms, one with walk-in shower and one with bathtub/shower.

There are two bedrooms, both with king beds. The master bedroom has its own walk-in closet and bathroom. New in June 2008! The master bedroom has a new top-of-the-line California King bed with a Sleep Therapy Aloe Vera pillow mattress and all new bedding selected by Michele Iacuzzo.

The second bedroom has a king bed that can be converted to two twin beds with Sleep Therapy pillow mattresses. The living room sofa also converts to a queen-sized hideabed. There are three TVs and three DVD players, including a 37" flat screen high-definition LCD TV in the living room and a 32" flat screen high-definition LCD TV in the master bedroom. DISH satellite TV (including Sirius Radio) is available on all three TVs.

New in June 2008! We now have the top-of-the-line DISH VIP722 Digital Video Recorder (DVR), so you can record over 300 hours of TV programs.

New in June 2008! We now subscribe to all the DISH high definition TV stations (over 70 stations) and all HBO channels.

Our condo also has high-speed SBC/Yahoo DSL wireless Internet. Local and long distance telephone service with AT&T throughout the United States is also included for free (long-distance to other countries must be reimbursed). Our unit is completely stocked with dishes, bedding, towels, beach towels, hairdryers, binoculars, maps, games, puzzles, DVDs, books, San Diego guidebooks, etc.
Our balcony has a new marble floor, plexiglass walls and patio furniture. We have one designated parking spot.

There is a small washer/dryer in the condo, with a full-sized washer and dryer on each floor. There are two elevators plus rapid access to the beach via a secure stairwell.

There are ten high-rise buildings in the Coronado Shores complex, each with doormen and video security. The complex includes eight tennis courts and four swimming pools/Jacuzzi. Gas barbecues and picnic tables are available for picnics by the sea. The clubhouse has pool tables, big screen TV and a bar, with an outdoor veranda on the beach, and a table tennis and recreation area where regular events (e.g. dances, card games) occur. A pavilion is available for private parties and special events (e.g. wedding receptions). A fully equipped, staffed fitness center has nautilus, weight lifting equipment and sauna/Jacuzzi. All facilities are available at no charge to tenants and their guests.

Local activities in Coronado include bicycling, bird watching, boogie boarding, concerts in the park, fishing, golfing, hiking, library, local theater, parks, restaurants, sandy beaches with lifeguards, sailing, surfing, swimming, tennis and windsurfing. There is even winter ice skating at the Hotel Del! Coronado has a beautiful 18-hole championship golf course, and the Glorietta Bay Marina is next door for sailors. There are bike trails around the island, including a 20-mile round trip Rails-to-Trails path that starts by our condo building. There is an excellent public library with a nice movie collection and free concerts in the park on Sundays. The Glorietta Bay Civic Center and Promenade is next door to us, with a new Community Center (huge pool) and park running along the bay. And, of course, you may just prefer to walk the beach and view the sunset.

If you leave the island and go to San Diego, major attractions include Balboa Park, Scripps Birch Aquarium, Gas lamp Quarter, Legoland, Old Town San Diego, San Diego Museums, San Diego Zoo, Sea World and the Wild Animal Park.

Permissions: No Smoking and No Pets (with no exceptions; we have allergies so do not allow them in our condo). Children are OK, but our condo is not child-proofed and not suitable for toddlers (due to the extensive glass, electronics and white linens).

We are told regularly that our condo is one of the nicest two-bedroom units for rent at the Shores, with several advantages:

Our unit was newly and beautifully decorated by Michele Iacuzzo who regularly decorates $3-million dollar homes in Coronado.
Our access to the beach is exceptionally easy (2 minutes by secure stairwell, 3 by elevator).
We have all three views -- Coronado Beach, Coronado Bay and the San Diego skyline -- most units have one view (bay or beach).
Our condo has the latest electronics: two flat screen, high-definition TVs; the newest DISH DVR (digital video recorder); all the high-definition and HBO TV channels; and fast DSL wireless internet access.
Our building has its own tennnis courts and pool and i s right on the ocean .
Because there are no other Shores buildings immediately next to our building, we do not have people looking directly in at our condo, which many units do.
There is also nearby on-street parking for visitors, which many of the other Shores buildings do not offer.
Lastly, we are not full-time landlords trying to maximize rental income from the property. We are university professors who want to eventually live several months each year in our condo and have decorated it with that purpose in mind. We are renting our unit only on a part-time basis, and are very careful to select renters who will treat our condo as gently as their own home.
