In
Beijing's Hong Qiao, Madame Ye
Jinying
offers a great selection of pearls at
excellent prices at her store YE JIN YING PEARL. She sells pearls and other jewellery at two locations in Hong Qiao - No. 4102 on the fourth floor and No. 120 on the third floor. The photo below of Madame Ye Jinying and her assistant Ms. Jiang
Xiaohong was taken at No. 4120 in November 2005.
They create beautiful designs -- including wedding pearls -- as you can
see from the photos of happy customers below! The
Pearl Market
is a four-storey building, with small stalls with individual
proprietors on the first few floors and full-sized Western-style stores
on the top floor. Lower quality pearls and jewellery are sold from
small stalls on the third floor. Exclusive pearl stores are on the
fourth floor.

Getting to Hong Qiao
Hong Qiao can be reached by bus, but it is more convenient to use one of the multiple taxis in Beijing. Just print the Chinese name for Hong Qiao (see below) and give it to a taxi driver. Many taxi drivers now speak English (getting ready for the flood of tourists expected for the 2008 Olympics), but most still do not. 红桥市场 Remember to take the name of your hotel in Chinese characters with you so you can get back with your parcels.Hong Qiao Maps: Map overview Satellite Overview |

| Madame Ye's daughter Eva also has a pearl store in
Shanghai so there is a third location where you can buy her pearls.
(However, I have not been to this store.) That address is: No. 2021,
2nd Floor Hong Qiao International Pearl City, No.3721 Hong
Mei Road, Chang Ning District, Shanghai 201103, China. |

Last Note: Remember
that (1) there are different qualities and sizes of pearls (the choices
can be overwhelming) so choose carefully, (2) bargaining over pearl
prices is recommended, (3) take along your friends as the more the
group purchases the greater the discount off listed prices, and (4) the
first sale of the day is considered lucky in China. Enjoy!
